Peel and quarter apple.
Put layer of apples in large pan and sprinkle with sugar
Continue layering apples and sugar until you have a pan full.
Cover and let sit overnight. (I assume you'd put in refrigerator)
Scoop out apples and pack in jars and heat remaining syrup
*I usually have to make more syrup with 1c. sugar and 3 c. water.
Bring syrup to boil and pour over apples.
Seal jars and pressure can at 5 lbs pressure for 10 mins.
